Added 11/22/63 to 2011, a year that is shaping up to be a poor one indeed. This book fits right in.
Added Fail Safe to 1964; it comes in a notch below Hitchcock's Marnie.
Yes, that's Larry Hagman with Henry Fonda. A year later, he would find Barbara Eden in a bottle. Lucky Larry. Added John Carpenter's The Fog to 1980, a year with several decent works, but as yet no clear leader. The only sure thing is that this film isn't in contention.
An alternative cover for Lost Horizon, touting it as "the first paperback ever published." In fact, if the citation-less Wikipedia remark is to be believed, it was, more specifically, the first mass-market paperback ever published.
Added Hilton's Lost Horizon to 1933, where it sits in a tie with its only competition, the film She Done Him Wrong.
Added Fletch Lives to 1989, where it comes in solidly in last place.
Really, it never gets much funnier than this: Added Toys in the Attic to 1963, which is shaping up to be a decent year: this 3-star entry comes in at #3 of 4.
Added the book The Bad Seed to 1954, but it can't compete with Boileau and Narcejac's The Living and the Dead.
Added Stagecoach to 1939 where, with all due respect to Agatha Christie's even more famous novel, And Then There Were None, it moves easily into first place.
