Left Behind (2014), directed by Vic Armstrong

Slack and severely underwritten story about several uninteresting sinners who, on the day of the Biblical Rapture, are left behind while millions of others from all around the world simply vanish. One man believes aliens are behind the disappearances, and for all the evidence in the film of God’s involvement (there is none), he might as well be right. Nicolas Cage is Rayford Steele, an airline pilot and adulterer, who may or may not make it back to New York after his plane is damaged during a flight to London. Meanwhile, Chloe (Cassi Thomson), his religion-hating college-age daughter, tries to cope with the loss of her mother and younger brother in a world rapidly descending into chaos. Based on the first book in the 16-volume series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, and that’s about what this film feels like: 1/16th of a complete story. With a diffuse and inept script, forgettable acting, and an unimaginative effort behind the camera by Vic Armstrong.

Hey, you're back! (kind of)
I'd just about given up hope and figured the old ticker had had the last joke on you.

Had you seen the original Left Behind movie to compare? Or was this just on its own?

Kind of is right. Still waiting for the next compulsive wave of reading/watching to hit, and it's taking awhile.

And, yeah, I've seen the Cameron film. I didn't think it was all bad. The review is here: http://kinolivres.weebly.com/blog/left-behind-the-movie-2000-directed-by-vic-sarin

One of these days, my absence will truly mean the end of me, but in the meantime, I noticed you finally gave up on Booklikes. Like the owners did a long time ago. Any regrets?

So if you're not watching/reading, how are you staying occupied? I trust you aren't into drug running, robbing banks or other such easy hobbies?

Yeah, I started making wordpress my major site back in november and then just pulled the plug on booklikes in April. booklikes has a lot of book info that I'm slowly transferring to my own personal database so I still check in once a week or two. No regrets, as every time I've checked in it's apparent that nothing has actually changed. I just hope I can get all my info [about 900 more book entries to go] before they close down. But they don't seem in a hurry to do even that :-)

Well, I've got this place bookmarked, so I'll probably start checking it every couple of weeks now and see if you get bit...
