Disparate group of ten people are lured to an isolated island and killed off one by one by their mysterious host who, they realize, is one of them. One of the best-selling books of all time, its genius lies in combining the premise with murders that follow the lyrics of a well-known children’s rhyme. That, and Christie’s scrupulous integrity. What it lacks is atmosphere or humor: it’s clever, but it isn’t emotionally engaging. Rated as a novel; add an extra star if you’re just interested in the puzzle.

This is my favorite Christie book. I haven't read Murder on the Orient Express yet, so we'll see.

My favorites - plural - are the Hercule Poirot books, of which MOTOE is a good one. I remember pulling them out of the library one by one as a kid, like I did with the Bond books. By the way, I don't recall you ever reviewing a Bond book. I'm curious why that is.

I read quite a few Bonds in highschool, before I ever started keeping track. I seem to remember they were ok but nothing about them ever makes me want to and re-read them and see what I think now. Leave a Reply. |
